But, because I knew you, I've been changed for good.
That's from one of the songs on the CD my internship friend gave me when I saw her in St. Louis on Friday. I was so touched when I listened to it that I almost cried, especially at the lines "It well may be/That we will never meet again/In this lifetime/So let me say before we part/So much of me/Is made of what I learned from you/You'll be with me/Like a handprint on my heart/And now whatever way our stories end/I know you have re-written mine/By being my friend." That was the first time I've seen her since last August and the last time I'll see her in the foreseeable future, so I was really moved by her giving me that song as a reflection of our friendship.
I spent the last two weeks (spring break) in St. Louis. One week was spent sightseeing and staying with my friend Brian and some others, while the second week we did an "urban plunge" and explored urban ministries in St. Louis. I worked with a lady named Ms. Lovie, with whom I worked last year. I don't know why I ended up in the same place, but it must have been for a reason.
I was given permission by my college to study abroad for a year and received admission into my program, so all that's left to do is work out how I'm going to pay for everything. Still, I'm going to France!
I have no idea what I'm doing this summer, but I need to make quite a bit of money. I'm doing some grant applications this week, so I hope that goes well. I may do the language camp thing, or I may work in Chicago at a temporary homeless shelter with an alum friend. Or I might go home? I don't know, to be honest. I may spend two weeks in Taiwan if I get accepted to that program.
Those are the important updates in my life as I see them now.
